Nick Mavar, a beloved deckhand on the Discovery Channel's extreme fishing reality series Deadliest Catch, has passed away at the age of 59. According to Bristol Bay Police Chief Jeffrey Eldie, Mavar, a native of Croatia, died on Thursday, June 13th, in Naknek, Alaska, due to natural causes.

Mavar spent 16 seasons on Deadliest Catch, facing the treacherous waters of the Bering Sea and the challenges of commercial fishing. His unwavering spirit and infectious personality made him a fan favorite. The news of his passing has sent shockwaves through the fishing community and beyond.

Nick Mavar Jr., a former cast member of Deadliest Catch, paid tribute to his late father, saying, "He was a true warrior, both on and off the boat. He will be deeply missed."
